View from Cottonwood Pass

Squeezing in one last snowmobile ride before Winter would end we made our way over to Cottonwood Pass, as we rode the snowmobiles up the mountain one minute it would be dumping snow, then the next the sun would break out of the clouds. It wasn’t long before we found ourselves stopping for a break on top of Cottonwood Pass, the storm clouds once again broke, which gave us one amazing view North into the Collegiate Mountain Range. This day turned out to be a pretty sweet one, and with views like this in every direction made this day that much better! http://www.mjbauerphotography.net/colorado-gallery-1/

A Break in the Snowstorm

A Break in the Snowstorm

Last Friday morning there was a break in the Spring snowstorm that hit the northern Rocky Mountains, while standing at this spot blue sky appeared off in the distance while huge snowflakes where still coming down overhead. It seems like clockwork every year in the mountains, right when the ski resorts start to close for the season, the snow once again begins to fall. But the trade off it still makes for some great scenery in every direction. http://www.mjbauerphotography.net/colorado-gallery-1/

Camping Under the Stars

Camping Under the Stars

Looking back at past photographs I came across this one while camping under the stars, on this trip to Capitol Reef National Park we ended up camping at a private campground just outside of the park. That night after a good dinner we lit up a campfire which was lighting up the red rock walls around us, I decided to break away from the crackling fire on this very calm night and walked a few hundred feet from camp. When taking this photograph the moon was starting to rise to the East yet the stars above where still blazing bright, this turned out to be one of those...

Colorado River Evening Sunset

After a long day of exploring it felt good to get back to camp, while grilling up a good dinner the evening sun started lighting up the hillside into a orange glow. I wasted no time grabbing the camera then did a short walk down to the riverside to capture this shot, this turned out to be a pretty relaxing evening after one day I will never forget. http://www.mjbauerphotography.net/colorado-gallery-1/

Utah Canyon Backroads

While exploring the Utah Backroads outside of Moab we dropped into a pretty sweet canyon, the road was a steep while red rock towered in every direction on this well maintain dirt road. When stopping along this empty road I snapped this shot looking down the canyon, it’s always nice to head off the beaten path to discover some pretty amazing areas, and this area had a great view around every corner. http://www.mjbauerphotography.net/colorado-gallery-1/

Steep Onion Creek Road

Making our way up the steep Onion Creek Road we stopped for a quick break to check out the views, the red rock canyon was glowing bright under the mid morning sun, while a warm breeze was blowing through the area as I made my way over to this spot. With hot temps starting to settle into the area below, we knew heading to higher ground where the cooler weather would be turned out to be a good call. http://www.mjbauerphotography.net/colorado-gallery-1/

Frisco Nordic Center Sunset

The other evening when passing by the Frisco Nordic Center I noticed the sky was about to blow up, I pulled off the highway and found a spot to park along one of the cross country ski trails. About the time I jumped out of my truck the sunset hit it peak, I quickly shot off a couple a different shots then captured this one. This turned into one pretty nice evening and being at the right place at the right time even made it better! http://www.mjbauerphotography.net/colorado-gallery-1/

Snowshoeing through the Snow

With a break in the clouds and deep blue sky’s above I ended up strapping on the snowshoes, the snow was piled up pretty deep with with the Spring snowstorm that rolled through the area earlier in the week. But now with the sun back out with more Spring like temperatures, this was turning into one very nice day! http://www.mjbauerphotography.net/colorado-gallery-1/

Very Nice Evening Sunset

The other evening when making my way home the sky started to blow up into a pretty crazy looking sunset, I decided to pull off the road and did a short hike up the snow covered hillside to try and capture a few photographs. I finally stopped at this location where Peak 10 seem to be glowing in orange and red, what a nice sunset this turned out to be and could not have asked for a better way to end a very nice day! http://www.mjbauerphotography.net/colorado-gallery-1/

Evening at the Stanley Historic Hotel

Evening at the Stanley Historic Hotel

After a short trip to the East side of Rocky Mountain National Park, I rolled back into Estes Park after sunset, grabbing a bite to eat I wanted to make one last stop before heading out of town. I made a side trip up to the old Stanley Historic Hotel that was sitting tall just up the hillside, when making it to this spot there was still a little blue light left in the sky while the historic building was shinning bright. I ended up taking a few photographs on this very nice evening, then it was time to pack up the gear and head out of town to try and get home at a decent...
